The temperature will plummet by as much as 10 degrees late Friday with snow predicted to fall in high parts of the region from 7pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website shows snowfalls are expected around Jenolan Caves, Yetholme and Mount Canobolas.
The heaviest falls are predicted around 10pm on Friday, with snow expected to hang around until 4am on Saturday.
The average maximum temperature in Bathurst during September might be 17.1 degrees, but this week it has soared to 23.5.

In Orange, 14.8 is the long term average maximum during the month, however, this week it has risen to 20.6.
While in Lithgow, this week's top of 20.9 degrees is well above the September average maximum of 15.4.
