Burglars have left a charity business in the Bathurst CBD with a significant clean-up bill after breaking into the premises in the early hours of Friday morning.
Around 1.30am Friday morning, an unknown thief forced entry into the HopeCare Bargain Centre on Russell Street, smashing the front door window.
It is believed the same thief hit another CBD business around 2am.
Hope Care Bargain Centre manager Cameron Love said the thief proceeded to cause around $2000 worth in repair and replacement costs for the business.
"A laptop worth $1000 was stolen, as were a host of watches," Mr Love said.
"The front door will cost around $500 to repair, and select items of furniture were broken."
Mr Love expressed his disappointment at the fact someone would stoop to such lows as to steal from a charity business.
"We often provide items to people who are escaping incidences of domestic violence or are fresh out of jail, these people often have nothing," he said.
"Many of our customers are low income earners so to see someone stoop to such lows, is just sickening."
Investigations into the break-in are currently ongoing, and CCTV has been handed to local police.
HopeCare operations and welfare services manager Elliot Redwin said instances of burglary at the bargain centre are, unfortunately, all too common.
"It's a regular problem, we often catch people shoplifting clothing and other merchandise," Mr Redwin said.
"We've had a couple of people caught in the act in the last few weeks, one of which has been issued a banning notice by the local police."
"While it's a common occurrence, we haven't experienced an overnight break-in like this in quite some time."
Mr Redwin said it's vital for anyone experiencing hardship to reach out to HopeCare rather than resort to acts of crime.
"People who are well off financially don't tend to break into charity shops, so I encourage anyone doing it tough to come in and see us, because there might be another way out," he said.
