Jim Turner has spent the last 50 years perfecting the art of multitasking, whether it be as an artist, musician, pilot, writer, publisher, naval officer or flora and fauna surveyor.
Mr Turner said art has formed a significant part of his career, with some works dating back to the 1970's, but his other pursuits have never been far from his mind.
"There's been times throughout my career where I've found myself writing a book about the history of steam locomotives, painting a series of abstracts and recording music at the same time," he said.
"I've published 16 books, which have also delved into Australian wildlife and Royal Australian Air Force history, and have had works exhibited in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Darwin."
Many of Mr Turner's watercolour paintings and drawing have adorned his published works, and his retrospective exhibition incorporates a number of his life's pursuits.
"I've made a living off taking on impossible tasks and, somehow, completing them," he said.
"Whenever someone purchases an artwork, I always like to see photos of how it lightens up their environment."
Jim Turner's 50 Year Retrospective Exhibition will launch on Friday from 7pm and remain on display until Friday, June 11.
