Keen listeners may have heard some younger voices and fresh talent on the airwaves in recent weeks.
2MCE has long been an incubator for broadcast talent, both formally through Charles Sturt University courses and through our work with other young people in our community.
Youth radio co-ordinator Faith Hanstock works to help young people in Bathurst get started with broadcasting on 2MCE.
"I love working alongside so many fun and wonderful young people," she said. "They bring such an exciting energy to the station and are full of so many great ideas.
"Our youth volunteers have done music show takeovers, supported interview production for Community Drive, recorded community service announcements and started writing their own, produced sports reports, and edited segments for our listen on demand page.
"It's rewarding to help people learn how to use the studio panel, write a script or plan their own show."
RECENT TUNED IN COLUMNS:
High school students Sam Bennett, Jamie Mulholland and Tobias Holliday have worked on producing Australian music programming as part of their time at the station.
You can hear them on Homegrown, Wednesday at 6pm, and on the Friday Night Late Show at 10pm.
Bathurst Youth Council members have also introduced a youth council segment to the station to bring the community up to date with their activities.
There are also youth music programs being developed at the station, including heavy metal and local music.
2MCE's Youth Radio Project is supported by the Department of Regional NSW.
If you're a young person in our region interested in finding out more about community broadcasting, contact youth radio co-ordinator Faith via 2mce@csu.edu.au or telephone 6338 4790.
You could help produce or present one of our existing programs, create segments or interviews or be supported to develop your own radio show.
It is a great way to connect the interests of young people to our broader community.
